"“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” (John 13:14–15, NIV)

In this passage, Jesus humbles Himself by washing His disciples’ feet, a task that was reserved for the lowest servant. He, the King of the universe, chose to serve those who followed Him. By doing so, He set an example not only of humility but also of radical love and service. Jesus didn’t just teach about serving others—He demonstrated it through action. He showed that greatness in the Kingdom of God is measured by the willingness to serve, not by status or power.

Lent invites us to reflect on Jesus’ example and to examine how we serve others. Are we seeking to serve those around us, or are we more focused on being served? True discipleship involves following Jesus in both word and deed, serving others with humility and love.

Challenge: In what areas of your life is God calling you to serve others this Lent? How can you follow Jesus’ example of humility and selfless love today?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the example of service You set for us. Help me to follow You by serving others with humility and love, just as You served me. Amen."
