"“As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.” (Matthew 27:57–61, NIV)
On Holy Saturday, we find ourselves in the quiet space between the crucifixion and the resurrection. Jesus’ body lies in the tomb, and the disciples are left in silence and uncertainty. For those who had followed Jesus, it seemed like the end. Yet, in the waiting, God was still at work, fulfilling His plan of salvation. The resurrection was on the horizon, but the disciples had to trust in God’s timing.
Sometimes, life feels like Holy Saturday—a time of waiting, uncertainty, and unanswered questions. Yet, we are called to trust that even in our waiting, God is preparing something greater.
Challenge: What areas of your life are you waiting on God for? How can you trust in His perfect timing as you wait?
Prayer: Lord, in this time of waiting, help me to trust in Your perfect plan. Teach me to be patient and faithful, knowing that You are at work even when I can’t see it. Amen."
