“He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7, NIV)
On Good Friday, we remember the suffering of Jesus, the Lamb of God, who was led to the cross for our salvation. In this passage from Isaiah, we see a profound image of Jesus as the sacrificial Lamb. He endured unimaginable suffering in silence, not because He was powerless, but because He chose to lay down His life for us. Jesus, knowing the pain that awaited Him, did not resist or defend Himself. He was led to the cross, obedient to the will of the Father, for the redemption of the world.
His silence and willingness to suffer for our sins is a reminder of the depth of God’s love. Jesus took on our sin, our shame, and our pain, and bore it in silence for us. He died in our place so that we could have eternal life through Him.
Challenge: How deeply are you reflecting on the sacrificial love of Christ today?
Are you living in a way that honors the price He paid for your sins?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for willingly going to the cross for me. Help me to re-
flect on Your sacrifice and live my life in gratitude and obedience to You. Amen.
