“‘Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:55–57, NIV)
Death once held a powerful sting over humanity. It was the final enemy that seemed to have the last word, reminding us of our frailty and mortality. But through Jesus’ death and resurrection, the power of death was broken. Christ’s victory over sin and death assures us that death no longer has the final say. Through Him, we have eternal life—free from fear and filled with hope.
Lent is a season to remember Christ’s sacrifice and anticipate the glory of His resurrection. As we reflect on His triumph, we are reminded that death no longer holds power over us. We live with the confidence that Jesus has conquered death, and through Him, we share in that victory.
Challenge: How can you live in the victory Christ has won over death? Are there areas in your life where fear of death or loss is holding you back from fully trusting God?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the victory over death that You won for us. Help me to live boldly in the hope of eternal life, trusting in Your power over sin and death. Amen.
