"“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” (James 1:22, NIV)
Hearing God’s Word is important, but if we don’t apply it to our lives, we are miss- ing the point. James reminds us that true faith is not just about listening—it’s about ac- tion. We can attend church, read the Bible, and memorize Scripture, but if we don’t live it out, our faith is incomplete.
Jesus calls us to obedience, to put His teachings into practice. Loving our neigh- bor, forgiving others, caring for the poor, and living with integrity—these are ways we become doers of the Word. Lent is a time for self-examination. Are we merely listen- ing, or are we actively living out God’s truth?
Challenge: How can you be a doer of the Word today? What is one step you can take to actively live out your faith?
Prayer: Lord, help me not only to hear Your Word but to live it out daily. Show me where I need to take action and give me the courage to follow through. Let my life reflect Your truth in everything I do. Amen."
