“And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:27, NIV)

Jesus’ call to carry our cross is not an easy one. It means surrendering our own desires, enduring hardship, and walking in faith even when the path is uncertain. Carrying the cross is not just about suffering— it is about trust. When Jesus carried His cross, He trusted the Father completely, knowing that beyond the pain was redemption and victory. Lent invites us to deepen our trust in God. Sometimes, carrying our cross looks like stepping into the unknown, forgiving when it’s hard, or persevering through trials. It may mean letting go of control and believing that God’s plan is greater than ours. Trusting God does not mean we won’t face difficulties, but it does mean we are never alone.

Challenge: Where is God calling you to trust Him more fully in this season? Perhaps in a difficult decision, a broken relationship, or an uncertain future. Surrender your fears and burdens at the foot of the cross, knowing that Christ walks with you.

Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You with all my heart. As I carry my cross, give me the strength to follow You, knowing that Your plans are always good. Amen.
